Even though Apple initially had a one year advantage over Google, Google Play now has closely the same number of applications as Apple store.

Has Google really caught up with Apple? Not yet. Apple reached 25 billion applications downloads 6 months ago. Google’s announcement that its Play Store managed to count a total of 25 billion downloads doesn’t impress Apple fans. Apple’s App store has more complex applications with a focus on quality rather than quantity. Google still has some catching up to do in this field.

With major publishers from the mobile gaming industry choosing Android as their favorite platform, Google Play Store’s future looks bright.
