Tesla Motors announced a voluntary recall for 2,700 Model X cars

The company sent an email to affecting customers informing them that “until the recall is performed, you may make full use of your Model X, although we ask that you temporarily not have anyone sit in the third row seats while the car is in use.” Released in September 2015, Model X has ample seating for seven adults and is accelerating from zero to 60 miles per hour in as quick as 3.2 seconds. Its 90 kWh battery provides 257 miles of range. As the company says on its website, “Model X is designed with safety as the first priority.” According to Tesla’s own internally conducted crash testing, Model X should be the first SUV to receive the highest safety rating in every category.
