Thus, this technology preview copy is meant to make the current Windows operating system users more familiar with what is about to come and maybe to even persuade them to change their operating system to this newer version. According to different reports Microsoft is not doing so well in terms of new operating system version adoption. Reportedly Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 combined fell way beyond Microsoft’s expectations by getting only 12.48 percent of their total users to adopt it (this statistic is based on data from July 2014).
Compared to Windows 8 and 8.1 usage, Windows XP occupies almost double that amount. The most used Windows is currently Windows 7 which has an adoption percentage of 50.55%. Microsoft has reportedly already acted on this bad trend and has taken measures that in the end will make people buy it’s newest operating system. We thus all expect something radical with Windows 9, something so radical that it will convince most old Windows users to switch to the new one.
