Hospital’s computer system at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center was hacked

Allen Stefanek, President and CEO of the hospital, says that “significant IT issues” began to emerge last week. The motive of the cybercriminals was not to steal patient data but to ask money. But the patients are not safe from harm. The inability to access patient records was dubbed a “very dangerous” situation. Some outpatients had to miss their medical treatments because of the ransomware. Apparatuses for X-ray and CT scans, documentation and pharmacy and lab work are also inoperable. Radiation Oncology has been forbidden to turn on its computers and cannot treat patients.The affected computer  have their system locked. The FBI, the LAPD and a cyber forensic team are also investigating the ransomware attack..
