To drive autonomously, the vehicle will use a combination of laser and radar sensors along with camera data. Google road maps were prepared special for the program. 200 of the cars will be used in test in Detroit. At this moment, as announced, Google’s self driving cars had covered 700,000 miles of public roads in autonomous mode. As argued by his creator, the new vehicle will make roads safer eliminating crashes and decreasing congestion and pollution. Ron Medford, the safety director for the self-driving car team at Google, previously was the deputy director of the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. He is confident that driver errors will be eliminated as a consequence of the advanced technology. The expectation for the new car is to be ready in a year.
