This hovercraft has huge potential though as it could mean the beginning of personal flight for mankind. It rides similar to a bike and it features two seats. It hovers up to 12 feet from the ground thanks to its rotary engine which drives the two carbon fiver blades that produce the needed lift. Aerofex claims the craft can reach speeds of up to 45mph. A video of Aerofex’s Aero-X hover-bike was already made available via Youtube. There one can see the disadvantages of the current prototype model.
For an average possible buyer the machine looks for now to be dangerous for both passengers and bystanders, uncomfortable and really loud. Hopefully, all these things will be fixed until the hovercraft reaches series of production. To add more to all this the craft consumes a full tank of gasoline in less than 1.25 hours and it is estimated that it will have a price tag of $85,000.
Aero-X does offer some interesting features but it is still unknown whether it will be able to offer safe landing or speed reduction in case of engine failure or in case the craft runs out of gas. The company offers the possibility to have one reserved for $5000 to anyone still interested in getting their hands on a personal hovercraft by 2017.
