The colour scheme of the navigation platform has been updated too. Google Maps comes with a unique colorful icon for cafe, church, museum and other commonly recognized places. In transit mode, the gas stations, train stations and bus stops will be more visible and points of interest are more prominent in when exploring.

Photos can be uploaded for a place from the user’s phone. There’s a lot of potential here for Google to integrate the Google+ app. The list of preferred locations can be also shared with others. People now will be able to check into places that don’t exist. If the place you’re in doesn’t appear on Google Maps, simply add it and then check in. It’s all related to Google Map 5.8 The new design and color scheme will be rolling out to Maps on mobile, the web, and other products that integrate Maps, such as Search, Earth, Android Auto, and Assistant. The update should be rolling out to users in the next few weeks.
