Sir Alex Ferguson Retires at the age of 71



This will put an end to an overwhelming managerial career of more than a quarter of a century at the Manchester United. Sir Alex Ferguson aged 71 has been the manager of the English club since 1986. During his 27 years as a manager, the team won more than 30 trophies that include 13 Premiere League trophies.

According to a statement released by the English club, Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson will step out after the club’s last match of the season against West Bromwich Albion. The game is an away one scheduled to be played on May 19, 2013.

Before that game, Sir Alex will have one more game to manage at his home ground i.e. at Old Trafford City. The game will be on Sunday against Swansea City. Ferguson’s successor is yet to be announced and is a widely anticipated talk of the football world. It’s no wonder that, it will be a daunting task to fill in the shoes for Sir Alex.
