He along with Ashwin played till the end of stumps and contributed in a 97 run partnership. Ashwin scored 60 runs not out and Pujara remained unbeaten at 114. Pujara is yet to be dismissed by the English bowlers. Combining the two tests, he batted for more than 15 hours and the English bowlers are yet to find a way to dismiss Pujara.
Earlier, India won the toss and elected to bat first. Both the openers went out cheap and Sachin Tenulkar also fell in cheap. Pujara and Kohli then went to build a 58 run partnership. Youvraj Singh then came to the crease but he failed to score any run. Skipper Dhoni and Pujara took India above the 150 mark but skipper Dhoni fell after scoring 29 runs. Following Dhoni’s departure, Ashwin came to the crease. At the time of stumps, centurion Pujara and tail ender Ashwin were not out.
