More than thirteen thousand people showed up to see the match. While the American light-welterweight boxer Rios showed great determination, dodged punches and kept his iron chin up high during the 12 rounds he was no match for the professional Filipino boxer.
Manny Pacquiao was asked to speak a little about his victory. The boxer told the press: "This isn't about my comeback. My victory is a symbol of my people's comeback from a disaster, a national tragedy."
Rios also took the loss well: "I just got beat by one of the best fighters in the world. He(Manny Pacquiao) came with a game plan. He executed it and won the fight. He's very fast and has a lot of different angles. He's difficult to box against."
