For the most part of the match, Ireland was in control of the match until Pakistan’s wicket-keeper batsman Kamran Akmal took the match away from the Irish. Akmal scored a scintillating 81 off 85 balls before getting out just 4 runs from the victory. Akmal was well-supported by tail-ender batsman Wahab Reaz who scored 47 crucial runs and took Pakistan to victory. Pakistan’s top-order collapsed like a pack of order as the first 4 batsmen went back to the pavilion under 20 runs. At one point, Pakistan’s chances of victory were bleak as they were struggling at 133 for 7.
Earlier in the day, Pakistan won the toss and send Ireland to bat first. Ed Joyce was the top scorer for Ireland scoring 116 off 132 balls. Abdur Rehman took 4 wickets for Pakistan.
Kamran Akmal was declared Man of the Match for his match-winning knock. Kevin O’ Brien was declared Man of the series for his outstanding run with the bat.
