The three arrested cricketer includes test cricket fast bowler Sreesanth and other two first class players Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila. The trio is suspended by the Rajasthan Royals after they were arrested. In addition to these 3 cricketers, 10 other bookies were also arrested on Thursday.
On Monday, the Rajasthan Royals put an end to the contract of the three arrested players and filed an FIR against all three. The harsh decision comes after test cricketer Sreesanth alongside Royals team mates Chandila and Chavan were arrested by the police. According to the police, the trio received Rs. 60 lakh from the bookies to manipulate one of the overs while bowling.
On Monday, the IPL governing body has decided to step up the security by providing each of the 4 teams in the knock-offs an officer from the ACSU i.e. Anti-Corruption and Security Unit.
Involvement of the cricketers in spot-fixing came as a real shock for the Rajasthan Royal teams who have qualified to the playoffs.
