A deadly accident occurred at the 2021 Supersport 300 World Championship of motorcycle racing, on Saturday. Five riders were involved in a collision at Turn 2 at the start of lap 11. The race was immediately red-flagged by the stewards. The Spaniard 15-year-old Dean Berta Vinales has passed away following the crash. “The rider suffered severe head and thoracic injuries,” a statement explained. The organisers decided to curtail the rest of the day’s running, cancelling both the WSBK and the World Supersport races that were scheduled for later in the afternoon. “We’re devastated by the tragic loss of @DeanBerta21 following a crash in #WorldSSP300 Race 1 today,” MotoGP wrote on Twitter .

All my support to family and friends.”Vinales was competing in his maiden season in WorldSSP300 on a Yamaha this year, riding for the family-run Vinales Racing Team that was founded by Maverick’s father Angel at the start of the year to promote young Spanish talent in motorsport. Berta Viñales, cousin of MotoGP™ rider Maverick Viñales, was enjoying a recent run of good form in his rookie season in the FIM Supersport 300 World Championship, claiming a best of fourth place at Magny-Cours in Race 2 and backing it up with sixth in Barcelona-Catalunya Race 2, having set the fastest lap in Race 1.
