A 12 cars crash occurred at the Tyrepower Tasmania SuperSprint

A total of 12 cars were involved in a crash during the Lap 2 on Race 3 at the Tyrepower Tasmania Supersprint , after the cars of Garth Tander and Cam Waters tangled, just two laps after the start. Drivers with cars left damaged by the mess included: Rick Kelly, Garth Tander, James Moffat, James Courtney. Scott Pye, Nick Percat, Tim Slade, Tim Blanchard, Simona De Silvestro,

Alex Rullo, Taz Douglas and Will Davison. De Silvestro was able to drive her Nissan back to the pits where it was repaired in time for her to take part in the restart, while Percat tried to drive his Holden back but stopped when a coolant pressure warning light flashed up. Will Davison was the only driver to suffer any injuries, his impact appearing to be one of the hardest. He was subsequently taken to hospital in Launceston reporting lower back pain, as well as being heavily winded by the impact.. Replays show Fabian Coulthard and Rick Kelly, battling for 11th place, colliding on the exit of Turn 3. Car after car piled into the mess. Only one carm of Lee Holdsworth, avoided getting involved. James Courtney, Rick Kelly, Taz Douglas and Will Davison have been ruled out of the rest of the Tyrepower Tasmania SuperSprint following the calamitous 12-car crash.
