PGA of America announced Sunday night the 2022 PGA Championship will not be played at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey. „The PGA of America Board of Directors voted tonight to exercise the right to terminate the agreement to play the 2022 PGA Championship at Trump Bedminster,” PGA of America President Jim Richerson wrote in a statement. The PGA Championship is one of the four “majors” in men’s professional golf. The PGA of America did not announce a replacement course to host the tournament, which is slated to be played in May 2022. The decision came after last week’s violent attack on the US Capitol by supporters of President Donald Trump. The Trump Organization sustains [this] “is a breach of a binding contract and they have no right to terminate the agreement.”

Trump National Golf Club is a private golf club located on Lamington Road in Bedminster approximately 40 miles (64 km) west of New York City. The club hosted the wedding of Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, in October 2009. In November 2016, after Trump’s presidential election, the clubhouse was used to host meetings for the Donald Trump presidential transition. In 2015, Trump received the approval to build a family cemetery at the estate that would include a classical mausoleum.
