Music producer/ rapper Jay-Z will sell his shares of the Brooklyn Nets in a bid to advance his new sports agent career. Jay-Z is in the process of obtaining a National Basketball Association certification and a prerequisite of the certification requires him to relinquish his Nets shares.
Jay-Z who is said to own 1/15 of 1% Nets ownership will sell off the shares and focus on being a sports agent. The rapper recently partnered with the Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and signed up Robinson Cano. Jay-Z who is credited for re-branding the team has maintained a strong mainstay this season at the Barclay Center. He is also credited for modeling the new uniforms won by the team and he previously chose the colors and designed the original team uniform. The music producer also sat in on contingent meetings held to strategize on luring Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James to the Nets.
The rapper acquired Cano last week from his former agent Scott Boras, prompting the speculation that selling of his Nets shares would soon follow. CAA is currently one of the leading agencies representing NBA players and they also have Chris Bosh, Tony Parker, Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade and Chris Paul under their roaster.
