More than 600 people from 58 countries have paid or put down deposits for suborbital flights with Virgin Galactic, some of them even 14 years ago. Moses, who will train future space tourists, was there to evaluate customer experience and the cabin. She’s also Virgin Galactic’s first female flyer. It was the first time that people had launched to space from the US since 2011. During the test, the vehicle reached a top speed of three times the speed of sound ,the fastest ever for Virgin Galactic. The spaceplane, VSS Unity, is designed to take passengers to the edge of space where they can experience a few minutes of weightlessness.
Virgin Galactic plans to continue with these flights throughout the year. Eventually, the company will move to a new location in New Mexico called Spaceport America where it will conduct its future commercial flights. The company’s billionaire founder Richard Branson hopes to be the first passenger on SpaceShipTwo’s inaugural commercial flight as early as this summer. If the company succeeds, it will offer 90-minute flights at the bargain price of $250,000.
