NASA awarded a project of the possible house on Mars


The presence of water on the Red Planet is essential to build such houses because ice could serve as a locally sourced building material. The  triangular structures would be autonomously built by robots using additive manufacturing techniques specific for 3D printing. “Getting to Mars is a trek, and once you’re there, you’re bound to stay for some time,” one of the “Mars Ice House” creators said. They even considered details with importance to sustain a healthy life: “as you move from the center of the habitat towards the outer walls, there’s more and more light.” “Additional light qualities, including alternating color therapies, are achieved via robotic printing of the shell’s surface to create a “Fresnel lens” effect, refracting and concentrating the light within the interior surface of the domed structure,” the project’s website explains.
