. “This, if verified, should be the beginning of a whole new form of matter,” Eric Swanson, a theoretical physicist at the University of Pittsburgh appreciated. Guy Wilkinson, a spokesman for the LHCb experiment team, said studying pentaquarks may help scientists to better understand “how ordinary matter, the protons and neutrons from which we’re all made, is constituted.” Quarks are a series of charged sub-atomic particles that come together to form larger particles, such as protons and neutrons. The pentaquark represents a way to aggregate quarks. The scientists will study now the finer structure of the pentaquarks.
