Ukrainian astronomers observed for months unidentified flying objects in the sky of the country

A new report from the Main Astronomical Observatory of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine revealed that skies over Kyiv are swarming with unidentified flying objects (UFOs). The scientists created a unique observation technique, considering the objects’ fast speeds. The exposure period was selected to ensure that the object’s picture did not noticeably change during exposure. Fast-moving, low-visibility objects in the daytime sky over Kyiv and the surrounding villages were monitored by Ukrainian astronomers using specially calibrated cameras at two weather stations in Kyiv and Vinarivka. Dozens of objects “that cannot scientifically be identified as known natural phenomena” were observed. “We see them everywhere,” was affirmed in the report. The Ukrainian paper describes between others a specific type of UFO the researchers call “phantoms” that is an “object [that] is a completely black body that does not emit and absorbs all the radiation falling on it.”Some such objects range from 10 to 40 feet (3 to 12 meters) wide and can travel at speeds of up to 33,000 mph (53,000 km/h) at altitudes of up to 10 to 12 kilometers. At the opposite side, others were luminous objects, brighter than the background of the sky.

Knowing Russian invasion of Ukraine suspected that some observations described in the new report may be linked to foreign surveillance or military technologies. At least, according to a 2021 report from the U.S. Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), it’s likely that some such aerial observed objects are “technologies deployed by China, Russia, another nation, or a non-governmental entity.” However the Ukrainian paper does not address the war in conjunction with the sightings.
