Sebastien Bourdais fractured pelvis during Indianapolis 500 qualifying


The car then flipped over, with flames and smoke billowing out, before skidding to a stop in the back straightaway. Safety workers arrived on the scene and removed Bourdais, who was seen moving inside the car, and placed him on a stretcher. They spent about 10 minutes getting Bourdais out of the car. Bourdais had just completed two laps over 231 mph – the fastest laps of the day. After accident he suffered surgery at Indiana University Methodist Hospital. “Sebastien is in good hands here at IU Methodist Hospital with the staff and now we just wait for him to recover,” team owner Dale Coyne said in a news release.Sebastien Bourdais won the season-opening race at St. Petersburg. He  won four straight Champ Car season titles from 2004-07 and raced in Formula One in 2008-09.
