With the help of a $748,000 Small Business Innovation Research grant the construction of the Hybrid Electric High Mobility Scout, or how the military calls it Mongrel, began in 1997. An additional $730,000 (coming from a SBIR grant) was invested into this vehicle in order to polish off the racy prototype.
The car’s interior was removed by the Government. And the eBay listing clearly mentions that Mongrel is missing its front and its back bumper. And when if you count that the military vehicle comes without batteries then one might say this is not a good deal. The current eBay top bid is $6700 with a total of 28 bids. Few hours ago the top bid was half that amount. This price makes this million dollar vehicle a total bargain but the reserve price was not yet met and until bidding is over the price could significantly increase.
