To implant a womb into a transgender woman will technically be possible, specialists say

Speaking at the American Society for Reproductive Medicine’s annual meeting in San Antonio, Texas, Dr Richard Paulson, President of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine explained that there was no anatomical reason why a womb could not be successfully implanted into a transgender woman.

Men could get pregnant as soon as “tomorrow” thanks to developments in womb transplantation. ”I personally suspect there are going to be trans women who are going to want to have a uterus and will likely get the transplant,” Dr. Paulson said. The procedure would be extremely complicated and it’s likely that transgender women would have to give birth by caesarean section. hormones might have to be given to replicate the changes that occur while a woman is pregnant.

This is an worldwide research.. Dr. Amel Alghrani, of Liverpool University, predicts that a successful program  would lead to others demanding wombs – including gay and straight men who wanted to experience ‘the joys’ of carrying a child. However, British experts warned  that initiating a pregnancy in a transgender woman may be unethical. It would be illegal for an IVF clinic in the UK to create an embryo for the purpose of implanting it in a man under the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 2008. Critics have their arguments. Women’s campaigner Laura Perrins said: “Most taxpayers will not think this is a good use of resources. It raises profound ethical and moral issues that will have an impact on women’s rights. It will impinge on the meaning of motherhood and womanhood.”
