Pharmacists simply need to store medicines in the robot’s vault before the machine sorts out the medicines according to the near date of expiry and arranges them in specific shelves. If there is any expired product in the system, it flags it and it is discarded by the system. With the introduction of the system, the patient waiting time will be cut by 90 per cent and also reduce human error. The robot can dispense prescribed medication at the click of a button based on a barcode. The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) said it plans to adopt the use of robot in all its hospitals soon. The robot is one of the latest smart technologies adopted by the authority to meet the 2016-2021 strategy, which aims to achieve a happy and healthy society.
