Although she was born deaf because she is suffering from the Usher syndrome she only lost her sight before she got to be 30 years old. The surgery was performed by doctors at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham four weeks ago. This week Joanne Milne returned to the hospital where medics got to turn on her implants for the first time.
The woman brought a friend with her that filmed the whole experience. Milne was as expected overwhelmed at first as she burst into tears when she was able to hear for the first time in her life. A medic helped Milne understand what she is going through while she was testing her hearing. The video of Milne was uploaded to Youtube and sure enough it quickly became viral.
