The canned food manufacturer specifically recalled their 5-ounce cans of Chunk Light Tuna and Chunk White Albacore. Steve Mavity, the senior vice president of Bumble Bee’s technical services and quality assurance, explained that there had been no reports of illnesses related to these products and the only reason why they had been recalled was to address the issue of seal tightness.
The cans which were recalled are said to have been distributed to retailers and consumers between the 17th of January and 28th of February. The FDA said that loose seals could cause bacterial contamination which in turn could lead to food poisoning. Consumers who happened to have purchased the canned goods and still have them in their possession have been asked to discard them immediately.
