A public warning was issued because a squirrel with the plague was discovered in the LA area


A squirrel which was brought on July 16 for a  routine control in the LA area was found to be infected with the plague. As a security measure, the Table Mountain Campgrounds of Angeles National Forest in California was temporarily closed.
Plaque is a bacterial infection caused by Yersinia pestis and can be transmitted to humans through infected fecales or by flea bites.

A train carrying petrol derailed at about 10 miles of Maine

A train derailment, Saturday, in the town of Lac-Megantic (Quebec), close enough to Maine, produced an unexpected environmental injury in the area. It was a 73 tanker cars train filled with oil and many of them caught fire. Even after the emergency intervention several cars continued to burn Sunday.

Dangerous mosquitoes are expected to invade more than half of the U.S. territory


More than half of U.S. territory is expected to be invaded soon by the Asian Tiger Mosquitoes. This is a different mosquitoes breed, with a particular physical aspect (having white stripes on his black body) and it is at the same time very aggressive and resistant to drought.
It’s not a new thing however, these mosquitoes were coming in the U.S. in the 80s.
The American people have reason to be concerned because in the past these mosquitoes were producing the West Nile fever, the yellow fever and some types of encephalitis.
