A movie called „Michael” about the life of Michael Jackson is set to start production this year under direction of Antoine Fuqua. “The first films of my career were music videos, and I still feel that combining film and music are a deep part of who I am,” said Fuqua in a statement. „His music and those images are part of my worldview, and the chance to tell his story on the screen alongside his music was irresistible,” he added about what motivated him to make the movie. Studio Lionsgate has claimed the film will address “all aspects of Jackson’s life” and will showcase some of the singer’s biggest performances.
The movie will likely require at least two actors to play superstar Michael Jackson, as a boy and adult. The film is set to be co-produced by Bohemian Rhapsody’s Graham King, along with John Branca and John McClain, who are at the helm of Jackson’s estate. The screenplay was written by three-time Oscar-nominated John Logan who has written screenplays for films such as Genius, Skyfall, The Aviator, and Hugo. The allegations against the singer were left out of the Broadway production. Biographical drama “Michael” has been in the works for several years. The film is still in the development phase.
