The New York Film Critics Circle has named the best film of the year

Williams was honored jointly for her performances in “Manchester by the Sea” and “Certain Women.” The real surprise here, however, goes to Hacksaw Ridge, the World War II drama directed by Mel Gibson. The film picked up seven nominations, including for best picture, best director, and best actor.  This year’s awards, which will air December 11 on A&E. To say more. La La Land is a 2016 American romantic musical comedy-drama film written and directed by Damien Chazelle and starring Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, John Legend, and Rosemarie DeWitt. The film’s title is a reference to both a nickname for the city of Los Angeles as well as a euphemism for a state of being out of touch with reality. And about the story: a jazz pianist falls for an aspiring actress in Los Angeles.
