The film is based on Suzanne Collins’ dystopian trilogy (book 2) and continues after Katniss’ (played by Jennifer Lawrence) won the televised games. Our teenage heroine will have to chose between her fellow Games survivor Peta and her friend from back home Gale. As we saw in the previous movie Katniss will have to face President Snow’s wrath.

Jennifer Lawrence told the press a while back that she was going to pass on the movie but she eventually changed her mind. The actress reportedly made only $500000 for The Hunger Games. She is now paid somewhere in the $10 million range for her role in “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”. This figure includes bonuses and her salary.

The Hunger Games brought in a total of $685 million. The sequel is also estimated to be a real gold mine for Lionsgate.
