The Hollywood thriller was accused of “distortion of historic facts and wilful interpretation of events … as well as images and characters of Soviet citizens of the period.” Child 44 (published in 2008) is a first novel by British writer Tom Rob Smith in a trilogy featuring former MGB Agent Leo Demidov, who investigates a series of gruesome child murders in the Soviet Union. The novel was nominated for 17 international awards and won seven, being translated into 36 languages. In January 2011 it was listed in the Book Club 100 Books of the Decade. The movie scenario based on the novel was written by Richard Price.

A last minute breaking news says the ban of this movie was appealed by Central Film Partnership but the result is not known.
