The movie was expected to break the records of 1st day collection for a Bollywood movie. The record is currently held by Salman Khan starrer “Dabangg 2”. Ranbir’s “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani” fell short by a slight margin to break the record. Compared to Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’s Rs. 19.45 crore Dabangg 2 collected Rs. 21.10 crore. That being said, the film currently holds the record of being the highest grosser of 2013 surpassing Saif Ali Khan’s Rs. 15.12 crore opening of Race 2.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani got released in more than 3,000 screens all over India. The morning shows registered a heavy occupancy in multiplexes and better than average occupancy in the single screens. The film also started off impressively at the overseas market.This is the first film of the pair Ranbir and Deepika after they broke up in 2010. Star of the recent hit film “Ashiqui 2”, Aditi Roy Kapur is also in the movie.
