‘Fast & Furious 6’ come out on top during the Memorial Day Weekend

The action packed film starting Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel has opened to overwhelming responses all over the world. As a result, the movie has now become the Fast and Furious franchise’s best opening till date.

 

The movie is played at around 3,650 locations and without the added benefits of surcharges from 3D tickets, the movie garnered $120 million from Friday through Monday.  In the overseas, the business for the film has been terrific. The movie collected $197 million from the overseas which is more than what Universal Studio spent in making the film ($160 million approximately).

The next installment of the Fast & Furious franchise Fast and Furious 7 is already under discussion is slated to be released next summer.

The other movie released during the extended Memorial Day, “The Hangover Part 3” came up 2nd garnering $63 million in the first 5-day of its release. The figures might look impressive for a comedy movie but consider the previous installment’s success of $135 million, the figures seem meager.
