Horror Flick “Evil Dead” Shines at the box-office, G.I. Joe Slips down to no.2 spot

The 1981 remake garnered $26 million at this weekend’s box office knocking out “The Rock” and starrer “G.I. Joe: Retaliation”. The latest installment of G.I. Joe $21.1 million and was jointly at no.2 spot with the animated adventure comedy “The Croods”.

 

Remake of Sam Raimi’s 1981 cult classic “The Evil Dead” came as a bit of surprise as the horror flick raked in $2 million more than anticipated.  In the meantime, animated adventure 2nd movie of 2013 to have achieved the feat, “Oz the Great and Powerful” being the first. On the other hand, the much hyped “Olympus has fallen” have failed to make an impressive mark at the box office in spite of receiving thumbs up from the critics. In the past week, the movie garnered $10 million.

In the coming months more blockbusters are expected to boom the Hollywood box-office.
