The finale episode featured a start studded appearance by Salma Hayek, Julianne Moore, Conan O’Brien, Richard Belzer and Ice-T from Law & Order as well as the U.S. House of Representatives Democratic leader, Nancy Pelosi.
The show was inspired by lead star Tina Fey’s stint as the head writer for the live TV sketch comedy Saturday Night Live. The show premiered in 2006 and since then it has won several Emmys despite its considerably low ratings. The show has aired in over 20 countries globally and Fey has benefited from its popularity seeing her land several movie roles including ‘Baby Mama’ and ‘Date Night.’ Last Sunday, Fey and Alec Baldwin who also stars in the show won the best TV comedy actress and actor accolades respectively as the Screen Actor’s Guild awards.
The show’s finale was honored by ice cream makers Ben & Jerry who announced that they would add a new flavor to their menu in spring called the ‘Liz lemon Greek Frozen Yoghurt.’
