Adam West was born in Seattle in 1928. His father, Otto, was a wheat farmer; his mother, Audrey, was a pianist and opera singer. West played the popular superhero, later returned to the role in an episode of the “The Simpsons.” and even did the voice of nutty Mayor Adam West in the long-running “Family Guy” series. On the big screen, West played a wealthy Main Line husband who meets an early end in Paul Newman’s The Young Philadelphians (1959), was present in Robinson Crusoe on Mars (1964) and contributed with voice to the animated Redux Riding Hood (1997). He also had roles in other movies.

Batman TV series was an immediate hit. It was nominated for the Emmy Award for outstanding comedy series in its first year but was canceled in March 1968 after its third season. As a consequence he and his family downsized, leaving their home in the Pacific Palisades for Ketchum, Idaho. After a long life adventure, with many jobs, West received a star on The Hollywood Hall of Fame in 2012.
