According to the superstar Topshop, a company which is chaired by Sir Phillip Green, offered her five thousand dollars after numerous requests to stop selling the mentioned T-shirts. She was also reportedly told that they don’t care and will continue selling the T-shirts anyway.

Topshop bought the pictures that were printed on the T-shirts from a photographer. And since the law in the UK does not protect the artist the photos in question were not tied to any artist licensing fees. Thus Topshop did nothing illegal. Even so, Rihanna hired Reed Smith and has now filed a law suit in London.

When asked about this case a Topshop representative only had the following to say: “This issue is related to a T-shirt provided to Topshop by a third-party supplier. We are aware it is the subject of litigation”
