In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Vin Diesel declared: “What Facebook didn’t realize is something very big was about to happen, and that was — for the first time in history, and it’s kind of a fluke they didn’t see this coming — when I jumped on that page in April 2009, I started talking to people. In the realest ways”

Back then, in Q1 of 2009, the only big Facebook page out there was the one of USA president Barack Obama. There was a lot of buzz regarding Facebook because it was the first time in history when social media helped someone get elected as President.

As his page began attracting more and more fans Facebook wondered what Vin Diesel was doing to gather so many fans. Reportedly he was even asked to come to the Facebook’s corporate office to explain his strategy. Right now Vin Diesel’s Facebook fan page has a whooping 41 million likes.

Vin Diesel made a joke about Facebook saying: “Facebook really owes me billions of dollars”. And while the star considered he didn’t do anything special to get as popular as he is today besides being real the truth is that his Facebook popularity just reflects his popularity from the real world. Vin Diesel’s Facebook page has the links towards the newest trailers of movies he plays in and insights in parts of his private life.
