Ed Jacobs, a Highway Patrol Officer, who pulled over Hart, said that the comedian appeared to be intoxicated at the time. Jacobs alleges that the Mercedes was at the time being driven at more than 90 mph and erratically when it almost collided with a gas tanker. Hart then failed the field sobriety test he took leading to his arrest on a misdemeanor DUI charge with a $5,000 bond.
At the time Hart was pulled over, he is said to have been with a female passenger who following his arrest was sent home. The booking sheet shows that Hart was held at a Van Nuys jail and the arrest took place at 4.51 a.m. Internet reports claim that Hart has already admitted that he had been drinking which is why he failed the breathalyzer test. This is said to be Hart’s first DUI and he has since been released on bail.
Hart took to Twitter saying that he was ‘officially a thug’ after spending 6 hours in jail. Hart further said that he was pulled over just about three blocks from his house and claimed that the officer knew who he was and wanted to make an example out of him. However, he also said that drunken driving is not a laughing matter and that it was ‘ a wake up call’ for him.
