Digg.com is seven years old. During its lifetime it managed to attract both impressive funding and a wide range of users who contributed to Digg’s evolution. Many journalists were active on Digg all the time and 4 years ago it seemed that Digg would soon become bigger than all its competitors.

Things changed and Digg saw a descent trend ever since. Many Digg power users stopped using it and Digg was never going to go back to what it once was. During this downfall the Digg staff tried to resuscitate it by coming with innovative solutions. One of those was it’s news service.

Betaworks plans to strip Digg down to its core and integrate it into News.me (a mail newsletter news service dedicated to facebook users).

“Digg will join a portfolio of products developed by Betaworks designed to improve the way people find and talk about the news.”
