Oculus is now developing the Rift – virtual reality system for PCs which will allow its users to immerse in a computer-generated 3D world. A potential scenario possible to become reality will be to chat with friends on Facebook in a virtual cafe or to be medically examined in a virtual cabinet. Zuckerberg promised: “After games, we’re going to make Oculus a platform for many other experiences (j…) just by putting on goggles in your home.” It’s about sharing places and experiences on a new communication platform.
The company Oculus is based in California and was founded by Palmer Luckey, 21. He has as co-founders Brendan Iribe, Michael Antonov and Nathe Mitchell. The Oculus Rift prototype was presented in a demonstration in June 2012. The consumer version of the product is expected and possibly available in late 2014 or early 2015.
