Google's intention with the newly acquired technology is yet unclear as Google did not make any public statement regarding the role of the Massachusetts based company in its future plans. Details regarding terms of the deal were also kept secret but Google did however communicate with the NewYorkTimes saying that all existing contracts will be honoured. Among the current contracts there is also a $10.8 million contract made between Boston Dynamics and DARPA (the US Defence Agency Research Projects Agency)
Right now there are speculations that Google might pursue the dream of building an Android. Boston Dynamics is just one of Google's latest acquisitions. Google secretly bought seven robotics companies and also hired additional robotics experts. Now Google has dedicated robotics teams in both Palo Alto and Japan.
