According to Richard Sim, a NPD DisplaySearch analyst, Apple will have another iPad mini iteration during the first quarter of 2014. Richard Sim detailed his prediction: “The Q1 device will have a Retina display plus an updated processor… We’re looking at Q1 2014. The date’s in flux.”
Apple is well known for its pattern in device iteration. Last year’s fourth generation iPad debuted six months after the third generation iPad. According to the same analyst it is likely that the technology used in iPhone 5’s polysilicon display will be used for the next iPad mini.
Richard Sim however denotes that the rates of the LTPS display panels won’t be the same if the display size is increased. Thus it is also possible that the display technology used in iPhone 5 is not yet ready to be super-sized.
