Microsoft was also hacked with the same attack used on Apple and Facebook

According to Matt Thomlinson, the General Manager of Trustworthy Computing Security department from Microsoft, the attack was detected in time but consistent to their security practices the company did not make a statement because the initial information gathering process was still running.

Thomlinson continued “This type of cyber attack is no surprise to Microsoft and other companies that must grapple with determined and persistent adversaries”. The increasing frequency of recent hack attacks is something to worry about. Twitter said that close to a quarter million of its accounts were compromised earlier this month when they were hacked via a similar attack. New York Times and NBC.com were also hacked via a malware attack. While attacks are possible via more “sophisticated techniques” one thing remains certain: Companies need to be ready for them and be able to react in time so that no harm is done.
