Canadian rapper shot and killed in the street

Canadian 21-year-old rapper Houdini - AKA Dimarjio Antonio Jenkins - from Toronto has been confirmed dead after a shooting outside the Bisha Hotel Tuesday afternoon, near the intersection of King and Peter streets.

Houdini was one of three people taken to hospital with injuries and he was pronounced dead. It seems he was targeted. A  female victim was an innocent bystander. “As they crossed on to the west side of the curb, that is when the suspect vehicle made a U-turn and engaged in firing,” police said. A firearm was recovered and a search is ongoing for suspects in a blue car. Officers are confident the case will be solved. Investigators will have access to the video camera records in the area. Houdini was one of Canada’s most streamed independent rappers last year, with 19.2 million plays on Spotify. One of his more recent tracks Auntie (with fellow hip hop artist WhyG) went viral.

He is best known for tracks including Late Nights, Myself, and Backseats. Tributes to the up-and-coming rapper appeared on his social media accounts. Fans, supporters, and friends also took to Facebook and Twitter to express their grief, disappointment and disbelief.
