Renowned glass artist accused of plagiarism

A lawsuit filed in King County Superior Court and the U.S. District Court on Friday claims that renowned artist Dale Chihuly has passed another person's work as his own for the past 15 years. Michael Moi declares that he was never compensated or given any credit for the work he has done for Chihuly.

Moi explains that the truth behind him being the author of the paintings in question has been intentionally hidden. Dale Chihuly released an official statement detailing that Moi's claims are not true, and as such the lawsuit is from his point of view "baseless". Chihuly was reportedly hired just as a handyman. He has helped over the years with small construction projects, repairing and cleaning.

According to the same statement, Moi got his hands on some of Chihuly's private documents, personal letters, medical papers and many other sensitive documents which would make the situation rather uncomfortable if released to the public. The renowned glass artist claims that he was threatened by Moi after refusing to give him the sum of $21 million for returning the documents.
